Electricity bill for network gears

In general, a kilowatt hour is a unit of energy and it is the common way that electricity is measured.

A kilowatt (kW) = 1,000 Watts(W).

Average U.S. Residential Cost of a kilowatt hour is $0.098.

If you have a decent size of home network lab, below result of electricity cost would be interesting.

Ex)

Cisco 3750G-24TS used 169W under 100% throughput power comsumption.
(Cisco 3750G-24TS used 134W under 5% throughput power comsumption)

Calculate a year of electricity cost for the Cisco 3750G-24TS is
(with 100% + average U.S. Residential Cost of a kilowatt hour: $0.098.

169W x 24 hours = 4056 W = 4.056kWh per day.  So, 4.056 x 365(days) = 1480.44kW.

1480.44(kWh) x $0.098 = $145.08.
