Juniper SFP fail during routing-engine failover testing

Recently, I had discovered some weird issue during new Juniper MX240 installation. Gigabit interface  was not automatically coming up after routing-engine failover process.

Here is environment.

Juniper(MX2400) ———– Cisco ONS15400

DPCE-R-Q-20GE-SFP(+RJ45)—– Ethernet(100Mbps)

SFP : Juniper Networks Methode SP7041-M1-JN

Juniper router has correct configuration with graceful Routing Engine switchover (GRES).

However, once I switch master to backup RE(Routing-Engine), those interfaces never come back up until re-seat the SFP.

" request chassis routing-engine master switch"

After 30 minute played with it. Found magic options in between

[Juniiper MX240]

Speed 100m

Full-duplex

No-auto-negotiation

[Cisco ONS15400/MSPP]

Speed 100m

Full-duplex ; without hard-coded full-duplex, Cisco ONS will show ‘half-duplex’.

I hope it is informative for you.
