What is optimal temperature threshold for Cisco 6509?

Recently, we had a cooling system issue on our data center and read Cisco 6509 temperature threshold…. and looked for a reference to see my box is on okay range.

Per Cisco reference, operational range is 0~40C. Temperature report by ‘Show environment’ provided  a lot of info. So, all the temperature number should be in 0~40C? Well, some of temperature is almost max value. Is that something I need to worry about?

Maybe someone knows better way to understand the report, but try this

 

Cisco_6509#show environment alarm thresholds

module 6 RP outlet temperature: 28C
      threshold #1 for module 6 RP outlet temperature:
      (sensor value >= 50C) is system monitor alarm

      threshold #2 for module 6 RP outlet temperature:
      (sensor value >= 65C) is system major alarm

If you didn’t change(I don’t think it is changeable), the sensor value will be the Max and vender’s recommendation.

 

For example, from the output above, current RP outlet temperature is 28C and warning level will be  50C and dangerous level will be 65C.
